Apredica Acquires Cellumen Assets
August 4, 2010
Apredica announces that the assets of Cellumen Inc. were acquired by Apredica on August 4, 2010.
The acquisition of the Cellumen assets gives Apredica the intellectual property for
offering the Cellular Systems Biology (CSB™)
and High Content Toxicology services
developed and commercialized by Cellumen, Inc. Apredica will be adding these to its
existing High Content Toxicology offering, and is committed to both the continued
commercialization and the expansion of this technology in the years to come to
other biological models, such as additional primary-cell and stem cell-derived models.
The former owners of the Cellumen assets, who continue to own the company formerly known as Cellumen, Inc., have closed Cellumen's Pittsburgh facility.
We are in the process of relocating Cellumen's equipment and intellectual property to
Apredica's Watertown, MA facility. Five former Cellumen Inc. employees are working
with Apredica through the transition and may stay on as Apredica employees.
Full provision of the Cellumen services formerly provided in Pittsburgh will resume
by September at our Watertown laboratory.
